Queens, Baby Dolls and Social & Pleasure Clubs: Traditions and Rituals
Now - March 24, 2018
A Mardi Gras Queen, educator, and FestiGals supporter, Cherice Harrison-Nelson, organized this exhibition of the colorful feathered, and sequined gowns of other Mardi Gras Indian Queens. While African American men’s roles in the Mardi Gras Indian tradition goes back to the early days of Carnival, Harrison-Nelson curatorial choices show the more recent and special work of women, their pride, and their other work in creating and parading. Womanifesto Drink N' Draw
February 21 @ 6PM
Exhibiting artist Courtney Lubin and the Brand New Art Gallery are hosting an evening of drawing and drinking. While the refreshments are free, please bring your own drawing supplies. Sounds like a great night to learn and chat about the female point of view on the female form. Register here for free.

9th Annual Recycled Fashion Show
Sunday, February 25 @ 3pm
A fashion show featuring clothing from the Bridge House Thrift Stores that has been transformed into fashionable outfits by local designers. The event also features food from local restaurants, a silent auction (featuring items modeled on the runway), a cash bar, and entertainment!

François Fressinier Exclusive Exhibition
February 22- March 9
In tribute to the New Orleans Tricentennial, the women-owned Martin Lawrence Gallery New Orleans is hosting an exclusive exhibition of breathtaking new paintings by François Fressinier. Combining collage, impasto, abstraction and figurative painting, Fressinier creates a unique textural style uniting classical and contemporary elements. There will be an opportunity to meet the artist at the Opening Reception on February 21. Visit their website for more details. Entrance is free.

Making New Orleans Home: A Tricentennial Symposium
March 8 - 11
Featuring lectures and cultural programming throughout the city, the four-day event will explore the 300-year history of how New Orleans came to be inhabited by diverse, vibrant people and how, in turn, the concept of home has been central to the life and culture of the city.

The Vagina Monologues at Terrance Osborne Gallery

Director/Producer, Misty Marshall of Empowerment Thru Arts and Producer, Stephanie Osborne of Meditate New Orleans bring The Vagina Monologues to Terrance Osborne Gallery during the 2nd weekend of March 2018, immediately following International Women's Day.
An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”
